1. Create a new folder on your flashdrive called My Favorite Things
2. Start Googling images of your FAVORITE things.
3. Save these images to your folder on your flashdrive. Ideally, you'll have 320 images.
The more you have the better. You can repeat the same things, but you cannot have duplicate images. For example, if one of your
favorite things is Dolly Parton, you can have 12 different pictures of Dolly Parton.
For your sanity....name each file as a number. This will help you keep track of how many images you have. To keep things interesting, don't put similar images next to eachother in order.
4. Crop each image to .5x.5 inches with 150 resolution.
I have found it faster to open about 10 images at a time. Crop these accordingly, click the X to close the image, and when it asks if you
want to save, click YES. This will override the file instead of creating a new file.
5. Begin the process of creating your Photo Mosaic:
b. Go to File> Automate> Contact Sheet II
c. Browse for and select your My Favorite Things folder
d. Set the Document size to 8x10 with 300 resolution
e. Set your columns and rows to equal the number of photos you saved
area of a rectangle= base X height or rows X columns= #of photos
f. uncheck the box that says Use Filename As Caption
g. check the box that says Use Auto-Spacing
h. check the box that says Flatten All Layers
i. Press OK and wait for photos to load...this will take some time.
j. If the photos don't fill the space, grab your move tool, hold the alt key, and drag out duplicates to place and fill the document.
k. Place self portrait photograph on top of this layer. Make sure it's placed nicely in the composition.
l. On layer mode, select Hard Light.
m. If photo is still unclear, decrease the opacity on the mosaic layer.
6. Save file as a JPEG.
7. Post to your WEEBLY on a new page titled My Favorite Things.
8. Title your work.
EXTRA CREDIT!
Create and post a list of at least 20 things that are included in your Photo Mosaic. What are your favorite things?
