Bring out the models...
For this assignment, you will take a series photographs using 10 different techniques (one for each photograph). These techniques are explained on this website:
10 Stunning Portraits
We will go over the information in class, but be sure you are familar with each technique:
1. Alter your viewpoint (bird's eye, worm's eye...)
2. Play with eye contact (the subject can be looking off camera, directly at camera, or at something within the picture frame)
3. Place your subject within one third of the composition (on the left, directly center, or to the right)
4. Experiment with lighting (set up a STRONG light source)
5. Put your subject out of their comfort zone (make them do silly things...jump, run, put on makeup, make silly faces, do a cheer)
6. Shoot candidly (don't have your subject pose. take pictures of things ACTUALLY happening)
7. Add a prop (have your subject interact with something to tell a story)
8. Focus on one body part (a portrait doesn't have to be of the face...take a picture of hands, legs, eyes...)
9. Obscure the subject (cover up part of the face or body)
10. Take a series of shots (this will work best with your subject moving. be sure to put your camera to a fast shutter speed)
For Monday, October 29, you will need to take 14 photographs. 1 photograph for techniques #1-9, and 5 photos for technique #10. You will need to post these on your WEEBLY page by the end of class.
Starting Tuesday, October 30, we will begin to edit these photographs.
So...this is what you will be graded on:
1. Your photos should be posted on a new page titled 10 Stunning Portraits
2. Your top bar should include related photographs.
3. Your photos should be in a 2 column layout. The original photo should be labeled ORIGINAL and the technique used...for example Original Shoot Candidly. The EDITED photo should be right next to the original. Be sure to give it a "museum title"
4. Your editing should ENHANCE your photographs! DO NOT put a filter on your photos...this is a cop out.
5. Your photographs should reflect the corresponding technique.
The edited photos are due Thursday, November 1, 2012.
